Congrats on the interview! I don't know the process for SOFTWARE analysts, but for entry level analysts, there are usually two rounds of interviews. The first one is usually on your campus or in your city, and on a one-on-one basis. The second one is usually the group interview in NYC/Salt Lake City, where you meet senior-level staff members and interview with at least three people.

Three questions they've been known to ask:

1) Where do you see yourself in ten years?

2) Why are you interested in this career?

3) Strengths/Weaknesses?

At my son's school, for systems analyst, Goldman interviewed day one on campus. That night you get callback, or no call. If called, you have interview #2 the next day, on campus again. I'm guessing maybe 20% got second interview.

Few weeks, more whittling down, they may contact you again...if you're still interested, they send plane ticket and put you up overnight in NYC hotel. Accd to S, first 2 campus interviews were couple hours each. In NY, AM and PM more interviews with different people, a tour, etc. It's extremely thorough. I met up with him that night (we live just 2 hr from NYC) and he was totally drained.

One question they asked: "What's the difference between a stock and a bond." Sounds simple but best to bone up on this and be able to expound on it. Also lots of particulars...and specifics. What do you think of so and so, how would you handle this or that situation. S thought he was well prepared by his school and his classes in particular.

If you get GS I'd recommend take it. The internship itself is amazing. He's worked there 2 & 1/2 yr and loves it. Pay is fantastic too.

there were like 24 people who went for the interview I am just worried I missed some simple questions on Linux. But they told us yesterday in a dinner that they will contact us within two days. I am very scared I desperately need this.
