Goldman Sachs-Are Their Any Asian Managing Directors?

From what people have said, it seems as if Goldman Sachs has few to no MDs who are of asian descent. Is that true or is that just a myth that people perpetuate? From a historical novel that I've recently finished, it talked of the I-banking business for either WASP or Jewish people, but has said that the situation has changed greatly in the last decade. Is that true that people of other profiles besides WASP/Jewish have the opportunity to be promoted to MD at I-Banking firms or are they still limited from ever becoming partners???????

I just looked at GS website with a list of MD, I ran into some last names that were asian.

It's possible that any race can become a partner. Especially since most companies now claim "diversity" programs to hire other races.

I find that Wall Street in general is predominately white males. I've met a lot of successful asian business people. Many people that work at BB leave to pursue other things instead of staying there waiting to become partner. Sometimes leaving creates a better opportunity, better pay, better life.

Thanks for the information. It's very re-assuring that race isn't a major factor in what designates the limit of an individuals ability to succeed. Where on Goldman did you find the list of MDs?

Asians are going to have to work a lot harder to make partner; don't kid yourself. The glass ceiling indeed exists. While I see some partners of Korean and Chinese descent in that list, most of them are Japanese, who have already been firmly assimilated into Western culture.

The street is def. WASP. But I must contend that GS is the best bank I have seen in terms of Diversity at all levels. Atleast all the people I met at Interviews and an office visit.
