Inappropriate for resume?

I'm currently pledging for a "professional business fraternity" and probably going to be an active member..

Should I bother putting this on my resume? I feel like the world "fraternity" has a negative connotation to it. But on the other hand, I will probably have some leadership experience/title..

Definitely put it in. There are good networks of alumni from all fraternities (professional or social) that can help you out, and if you have something in common with a recruiter, that can be a plus.

Yes, put it in. DSP (I'm assuming) is prestigious. It will give you something to talk about as well.

Even if it's AKPsi, I guess people know it's more for parties, but I guess you can just explain that it provided you with a social life.

Why does fraternity have a negative connotation to it?

I know some schools where's it the opposite... AKPsi also has a larger alumni base than DSP.

I'd say that 60% or so of my business fraternity's chapter is also in a social fraternity or sorority. They're not exclusive.

Boelterhall:

It's actually PGN, the new one that was just founded in the fall. I'm currently agonizing over whether the benefits of joining this outweigh the costs...
