Importance of Extracurriculars?

Do employers care about extracurricular activities one participates in during college? I recently just spoke to a hiring manager and he said that extracurriculars don't matter much. What really matters is work experience. Is this true?

relevant work experience will definitely matter more
but doing ECs complements your whole profile and will only increase your chances

if you have no work experience, then you do need some extracurriculars

Depends on your extracurriculars, and work experience is usually more important, but be sure to network, Network, NETWORK!
