Internship for Cannes film Festival

My daughter is a film studies student and she received a brochure regarding an organization that offer internships for students interested in the film industry at the Cannes Film Festival. The students have to pay a fee of $2495 (for housing, food, orientation, etc.) plus provide their own airfare. It's a 2 1/2 week internship. I'm curious if any of you know anything about this program and if it's worth it. There is an application process. It seems costly and I'm not sure what types of internships the students will have. I'll explore this more, of course, but I'm posting on this thread in case any of you are familiar with this program. The company is the American Pavillion.

I know it's Cannes, but that seems exceedingly expensive, especially for just 2 1/2 weeks. I don't know anything about the film industry, but I have interned before, and I don't know how much you would be learning in the 2 1/2 weeks you would be there.

Could she go speak to her advisor in the film dep't? They ought to know the value of the experience, I would think.

Yes, this is exactly what my daughter plans to do. Yes, this is prohibitively expensive, plus it doesn't include airfare. I assume there are probably other ways to obtain internships there. This wasn't something my daughter was seeking. She said these announcements were put in her film class' mailboxes. She'll speak to her screenwriting professor about this. Thanks.
