@WHintern2011: I am guessing that I haven't been "cleared" since I haven't had any correspondence with respect to the program since my interview with one of the offices. Signs are pointing to "no" at this point and I'm focusing on the job search. I would find it hard to believe that I wouldn't be cleared since I have a current DoD top secret clearance. Still holding out a bit of hope, though!

@ mypendigs Yes, I was talking about that type of clearance, so maybe the people that had had our backgrounds "cleared" already before don't have to get a "conditional acceptance".... I don't know....I'm just trying to make sence of our wait....!!!!????

Hello all, just talked with the internship office and while I did get the standard "rolling notification process" answer, the staffer also remarked that everyone should have a final answer within the next two weeks. Good luck to those who still haven't heard anything!

im still waiting yall..i asked the office today and it confirmed what WHintern2011 said..the person on the phone also said that some "NO" notifications have been sent out along the way too...he said this should indicate that by no means should we take no news as bad news!
...a sliver of hope..a sliver of frustration..HA!

I too received my 'vitals' e-mail late this afternoon. Based on the several posts on this lengthy thread, I think it's safe to assume this is a positive step. I honestly wasn't expecting to hear anything until at least next week since according to the WH's timetable, notification begins on October 24 for the Spring 2012 session ( Selection Process & Calendar | The White House).
Can those familiar with the process give some insight into what happens next once we submit the required information they request? In addition, what departments/offices have people applied for the Spring 2012 session?

I also received a vitals notification last night. I noticed that the the e-mail on the vitals document was different than the one that initially sent the e-mail as well as another woman's name disclosed in the e-mail. Did anyone else notice this discrepancy? Also, how does the background check work?

The vitals e-mail did indeed come from an individual at the White House, not the standard system generated message.
I noticed that the .pdf was unable to be saved with anything typed into it - I ended up typing into mine, printing it out, and rescanning it, attaching the new .pdf to the reply e-mail.
@dance4others I applied during the week before the application was due. Also, I hope it doesn't scare you, but the vitals e-mail I got stated that the response was due today at 5:00 P.M. - they sent it out on Monday and gave 48 hours to send it back. You may wish to check your junk mail!
Additionally, I got an e-mail today stating that my application was being processed - anybody else?
