That sounds like a tough situation. I'd recommend calling each internship program and explaining the situation, starting with the White House. While I doubt they'll be able to let you know their decision, I would hope they'd at least be able to give a bit more insight into the timeline.

Hopeful - I'm not sure, but from what I've read, the process requires that and the background check. Best of luck!

Hello all,

My situation seems to be a little different. I applied for the Spring 2013 internship and have not gotten an interview or departmental review. I did get an email last week saying that they were still reviewing applications and so on..thanks for your patience. Does anyone know what this means?

I called and explained the situation to them on Friday, and they said that they would note my time constraint, and that I would be notified "by or on, Monday at noon." I still haven't heard anything yet, so if I don't hear by 10 am I'll probably call back.

I would be patient. I don't presume to know anything about the process or how things work as far as communications go, but since you did get an email recently saying they were still reviewing applications, be patient. We are all eventually notified regarding our applications so, as long as it may seem, we have to let them make their decisions at their own pace.

Which departments did you guys apply for that you were interviewed for?

Technically, I didn't apply to any departments this season. I was contacted by referral from an earlier application I submitted. In any case, I was contacted and interviewed by the Office of Digital Strategy.

Still processing as well. I find it extremely irritating that they sent basically the exact same email a week later. Guess I need to ask Santa for a response from them...

I am currently applying for the Summer 2013 internship. Does anyone have any tips? Also, who should I ask for recommendations? Should I ask a friend? Is that not formal enough? I don't really any employers/professors that can attest to my character.
