I spoke to someone in the personnel office today. she said if you didnt hear back by friday (the 24th) you wouldnt hear at all. but that doesnt match what people have been posted - that some folks have gotten emails TODAY. I dont think the White House internship office knows what the hell they're doing/talking about. i asked about my status and she said she was "unable" to give me that information. i doubt they even reviewed all the apps that came in on time.

you have to be 18 and a us citizen, either about to enter freshman year of college, or no more than 2 years out of college (just google White House Internships and read the requirements). Obviously as you can see from the thread, super competitive, although this first round was both chaotic and a bit of cronyism. so there you go!

Is anyone applying for this fall's internship? Hopefully, I will.

The deadline is only weeks away!

Also, did anyone apply for the Office of Correspondence? It should be a great opportunity regardless (maybe an shoe-in for an actual internship with WH?)...I don't see what the difference is besides the title.

well for anyone still reading this thread- though i was not selected for the full summer internship with the scheduling dept OR the volunteer position with the correspondence office, my unlucky streak finally came to an end when they offered me a partial summer internship (it only goes through July 1st.)

But the ironic thing is that I'll be working with the internship team reviewing applications for the fall internship lol! funny how things work out... :P

good luck to everyone who is still trying to get selected for any type of position, don't give up hope!

I guess what goes around comes around. I am applying for the fall internship- I hear it is less competitive than the summer. My first choice is the communications office. Any one have any advice from applying the first time around? Just curious, what exactly do you do in a partial summer internship?

i have no clue to be honest. probably not the work of champions i would guess, but hopefully it will give me some insight on what they are looking for in applications so the process becomes slightly less mystified. :P

You are an insider now! It seems that from the outside, our applications go into a cybervacuum and magically appear with a response a month later. Let us know what insight you gain into how this mysterious process works. Good luck!

Help!

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but i've been having trouble figuring out to send my application. I typed up my essays in word and glanced over the application already but i have no idea how to send it in because i can't save my information directly onto the application according to adobe. Is anyone else having this problem? Or am i doing something seriously wrong? Could anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Akshar: I'm surprised they put up the application in Adobe, last cycle they did that and realized it was retarded because YOU COULDNT SAVE IT. So they changed it to word. Check back at the website to see if they uploaded a new version of the application and if they havent email the WHIntern email and tell them about the Adobe Problem. Suggest that they send you a Word Version of the document (I did that and I bet a bunch of other people did for the summer app so they ended up just changing it on the website).

Did everyone put their cover letter on their resume page? Do we even need a cover letter?
