We don't need a cover letter. That is the purpose of the first page of the application; basic information. I would leave your name and other personal information off the resume, as that is the point of the unique identifier number. I think they just want the meat of your resume. Hope this helps!

It seems that they are trying to be as impartial as possible, given all these attempts to not want to refer to our names.

from summer app you're supposed to put your birthday and the last 4 digits of your SSN

example:

Jane Doe's BDay is June 3, 1989 and her last 4 digits are 1111

06-03-1989-1111 (goes ontop of essays/resume I believe, anything but the "cover letter" app they give you to fill out and the rec letters).

Please help

Hi I am sending in my final application for the Fall Internship today (the due date) do you think my application will still be reviewed? Also, I am having trouble with the PDF file. I open in in Preview (on a mac) and when I try to email it to myself or a friend to review, the fields are blank. I am nervous to send my application to the White House for fear of it being blank. Does anyone know how to ensure the information will transfer through email? Also, when I type in a box like "Life Goal"- I run over the space it allows. You can see still it if you scroll right. Will they be able to read it? I would really really REALLY appreciate if someone could help me out with these questions. It would mean the world! Thanks so much

Jellybean,

I had the same issue. I think it was because my MAC had Adobe Reader, but not Adobe Acrobat and it failed to save the application, even though it appeared to do so. I ended up just having to use another computer at the library with Adobe Acrobat installed on it and it worked just fine.

Anyone know why they extended the Fall 2009 application deadline, at the last minute? It's not like they didn't get enough people applying... Weird!

maybe they're hoping for better "fit" applicants? Who knows, it's a mess in there.

Yeah... where is everyone?

I applied for a White House internship, and think I might go crazy having to wait for a month to find out!! Who else applied? What offices?

I applied for the fall too and I second what LawGrad2009 said about waiting for a month to find out. My top 3 offices were Communications, Domestic Policy Council and Chief of Staff. I might end up regretting the 3rd one. But I hear Rahm is quite the character. From what others said on this thread, I think some offices email you if they want to interview you. I'm guessing you just graduated from law school? congrats if so!

Yup, just graduated, and am studying for the bar now. So I naturally picked White House Counsel First, then Cabinet AFfiras and Chief of Staff. Rahm is pretty much my hero. Would LOVE to work for him. Did you see the Brian Williams special these past two days? Made me want to be there in the middle of it sooooo badly. What about you--are you a college student? What major>

As long as no one can find out though goggling that an applicant is involved in Republican Club any way, you will be fine. If Republicans president occupy the white hose then an intern with Democratic affiliation has a little chance.

LawGrad2009, I agree with you on Rahm; he would be really cool to work for. I did see the Brian Williams special and I felt like jumping through the tv screen. haha. I am a Philosophy, Politics and Law major at Binghamton University in NY and a rising senior. I don't want to be a lawyer and I hope I won't have to go to law school down the line. Where did you go to law school and how would you characterize your experience? I hear it is not exactly the 3 best years of your life. Good luck studying for the bar.

Hey all,
I am currently a WH intern and it is great! I hope some of you get it. I have commiserated with many of you during the summer but I wanted to change my name for security reasons.
