I have not recieved any email and I am beginning to worry and believe that I'm screwed. To student06905, just out of curiosity, where do you go to college and what's your major? I also applied to the communications dept. too and I'm wondering what it is they are looking for.

Yeah, my boyfriend got the email but no call. But that's awesome that they already called you... I am getting nervous just thinking about it. Sounds like maybe there is some central screening process that they put us through, and then they send us off the whatever office for that office to handle on its own. Student--was Communications your top choice? Did you get any email after the first one? Thanks for sharing this hard to come by info!

Fingers crossed for everyone here!

Hey, I'm curious...

To those applying for this internship: which college are you currently attending? (...or have attended?)

My feeling is that, at this point, those of us who haven't received a phone call probably won't be getting one.

probably so... I am a college student so competing with all of the grad students might make me less of a candidate. I hope they also accept some college students too. I hope they take kids from a variety of schools and not just the ivy league type of school. who knows......

Hi everyone, i've been watching this since it has started, but never posted. Any more updates? Has anyone else gotten a phone interview?

If you have already gotten a White House internship, does getting a phone interview mean that you got the internship??

Many people who got phone interviews last time around didn't get the gig.

i'd assume for the vast majority of us lurkers, the question is this: does NOT getting a phone interview mean that you haven't gotten the internship?

Answers to some questions

I am currently a WH intern. I work in a specific office but I think the general idea is people of interest get phone interviews. If those phone interviews aren't as promising, they will move to interview more people. If you haven't received an interview doesn't mean you are out of the running.

Good luck to everyone!

jlee, perhaps this doesn't apply to your office, but what of the people who were told a phone interview is potentially forthcoming, but haven't been contacted about that? I think a number of us are in that position.

Well from what I see, many of the WH offices seem quite busy and a lot of interns are working long hours. Many of the offices are probably backed up on getting their interviews done.

Also, I am not sure about the "forthcoming interview" email. I was directly contacted by my interviewer right away.

Ah, that's what I figured. Several of us have gotten an email last Tuesday saying:

"You have been recommended for a departmental interview for the 2009 Fall White House Internship. You will potentially be receiving an email regarding a phone interview in the next couple of days. Please send us your DOB and SSN as soon as possible, so we can begin a preliminary security check."

One person has gotten an interview already from the communications department, while others have not heard back.

Yeah, I think the big question for a lot of people is whether the fact that we haven't heard anything since getting that email last week means that we are out of the running and not getting a phone interview.

Other than that person who had an interview with the Communications department the day after getting the "potential interview email," has anyone here heard anything from any department? Phone call or email?

Thanks everyone for sharing whatever information you have--All in an effort to bring transparency back to the White House
