congrats blarg! can't be a bad thing to get one. although im slightly confused on whats going on lol. Oh well, we'll all know our fates by at least the end of the week!

apatel1: i by no means want to give the impression that I know much more than anyone else. I just thought it would be helpful to pass along the information. It's up to you to decide whether you want to believe it or not.

i'll have limited internet access for the rest of the week (I know, HORRIBLE timing!). but ill post my verdict when I get it. Good luck guys!

Did you just realize that you received a phone call about an interview? To my knowledge, the WH usually sends an email telling candidates they may have an interview, and only phones the individual to conduct that interview. Since interviews have passed, I am a little confused.

Which offices have you heard from

So far, the only one mentioned was communications. Where else have people gotten phone calls from?

One call set up the interview, later in the day they called again to do the interview (around 4). No specific office was mentioned. But I did get a WH internship email this afternoon as well completely unrelated to the interview process. Arrived around 3.45est.

I got the email before my interview even started. It just asked to confirm DOB and SSN, but (and I don't know if this was accidental) it also included CCs to the internship coordinator's staff email and her current intern...

Did they tell you anything about when we would hear a decision? Who did you interview with? Do you know what department? Thanks for sharing this valuable information!

Still said end of the week. Don't know who exactly the interviewer was. No particular department was mentioned.

hey, i've been lurking around here and i got some useful info, so i figured it was time to give a little information myself. i applied late, got word i would be interviewed two days ago, got the interview today. went fine i think - the guy was a short and the questions all sounded prepared. he told me the end of the week or early next week for a decision. asked me for my preferences for departments, but he clearly wasn't calling from any particular office.

the thing is, i'm not a college student or a student at all, i'm actually a law school graduate (yes, the job market is really that bad right now) so... i'm not necessarily 100% sold on taking the internship if it is offered. i'm curious for people who are currently working a WH internship how much you think the internship is helping your permanent job search. this would be totally worth it for me if it led to full time employment, but maybe not worth it if it didn't...

Hello. It is somewhat reassuring that the interview process is still ongoing for those of us who haven't heard yet. Satya232, I am confused. If you are not a current student and are not certain you'd like a position, what motivated you to apply for an unpaid internship? How late did you apply? I haven't been lurking here long, since I only stumbled across this thread this afternoon, but I think it's done equal measures damage and help to my already frayed nerves. It's going to be a long weekend if we don't hear by Friday.

To update on my situation:got that "you may be interviewed email" a few weeks ago, and have not received a follow-up email or interview or any phone calls. I think I'm pretty well out of the running at this point.

Also, I think I'll go ahead and tell everyone my school/credentials situation. I don't really see the point of keeping things under wraps. I doubt that the WH disqualifies people for being really excited about the candidacy process, and if they do, that's really a shame. I know it's something I'm curious about (credentials of those getting interviews vs. not getting interviews, etc).

I'm a rising 3L at Stanford Law School. I have really good grades, am currently managing a political campaign, founded the Students for Barack Obama organization at my undergrad school (a school with a very large population, and the club ended up traveling to Nevada for campaigning), and am obviously an Obama donor. I have no "ins" or connections to anyone working in the administration (other than an acquaintance currently interning at the white house) and my LoRs were from law professors, two of whom I also RA'ed for.

July 8

Did anyone here anything today? I am getting antsy, to say the least. I feel like I have fairly decent credentials, but as an undergraduate, I sense that some of us are at a disadvantage to what seems to be a field of applicants made up mostly of law students.
