I've been following the thread awhile.

I cannot beliiieeve this ****. Also just got the "wait another week" email. At this point I'm operating under the theory that no news is good news.

Also, the background check doesn't have to be "completed" before you start work. Generally they do about a 1 week preliminary that allows you to begin work, then they continue to check you out as you're working.

So... See you guys on... May 15.

EDIT: Also. I wasn't SFBO. I took fall semester 2008 off of school and worked for the campaign. I really hope that counts for something because my academics were never great.

Email

Hey guys I got the same generic email (April 24th). I'm starting to wonder how many other thousands of people recieved it as well. I'm still HOPEful that something will work out. My situation is a bit different though. I've been out of school for about a year and a half and I'm the Communications Director for an NGO in DC. I'm actually applying to intern at the White House in the Communications Department. (I know sounds crazy, but I'm a Barack Man) We shall see as the days pass.

I saw that apple got a phone interview. Wowzers dude good luck. If they already made their selections I hope these emails they're sending us isn't the let you down softly game.

I prefer hard truths.

same email here. got it at 3:38pm right at the end of my first final ha ha.

I actually am grateful now. I'm going to peacefully study for my 2 other finals and wait until I'm home on Thursday to start re-freaking out.

I guess this is good that they are taking the time to fully check out applications.

Also, did *everyone* get the email. It says they're doing their "FINAL review" of applications this week. Does this mean that only certain applications are still under review. Or that they're giving the applications one more look-see?

Hmmmm

One more week! We can wait, it's already been 3!

Luv4Obama

Hello All,

I have been following everyones posts and have decided to join in on this "suspense journey." I have received 3 confirmation emails and have recently received an email stating that decisions will go out sometimes this week. Anyhow, I am trying to be patient but Im not sure as to how long I can take this!! lol I wish you all the best of luck and I hope that this wait is somewhat beneficial.

xoxo

I might as well come out of the shadows, too. I know many people are getting frustrated with the process, but I'm actually relieved. The e-mail they sent out today was the first time they acknowledged my application. I suppose pretty much everyone who is (or was) under consideration should receive it, including those who did not receive confirmations before.

I'm going into this with realistic expectations... I know a lot of young people were actively involved in the campaign. I'm a first year graduate student who recently interned at the US Mission to the United Nations under Ambassador Rice. That was my first real experience with public service, but I hope it's not the last!

Oh, and good luck to everyone in this thread!

Actually there is a silver lining to all of this. Going back throughout this very thread I've noticed that the same people are contributing.

Personally I've googled everything in order to find stories of others in the same situation. If there was a huge mass of people recieving information emails consistantly they'd be flocking to this thread as well.

So being that we are relatively a small majority of applicants alone in this thread freaking out could be a good thing.

The only "white house internship wait and freakout" thread out there is this one.

So I guess maybe "everyone" didn't recieve the emails we have (although I believe a good number did), but hey losing Hope and being an Obama person would be an oxy-moron.

Hopefully I will see you guys in the future. Until then I'll just hangout here and freakout. It's quite comforting knowing I'm not the only one losing it!

Thanks guys!!! lol

i know for a fact that they have narrowed down the application pool for further consideration.

i do not know whether or not the emails are going out to those in the narrowed down pool only or everybody.

but i do know the pool has been narrowed.

Hey Peebles do you know what questions they asked. I don't know if any of mine were contacted. I'm kind of scared to ask as well. lol
