Where are some places I should try to look into interning?

I'm an Economics/International Studies major. Recently I've been having a hard time thinking of places that would be good to try and intern at. I interviewed for an internship with the local International Protocol office but the woman decided to retire and let the new person hire the intern (she really liked me too ) I am also talking to the director of the county Economic Development Department about an internship.

Past that what are some good places? I tried the regional Import/Export office but they were full.

Have you put together a target list of companies you would be interested in interning at?

This worked for me....plus I learned that with most corporations or government agencies you have to apply months in advance as the hiring process can be cumbersome.
