@showbiz most random post ever.
@investechy
I did an internship as a tech analyst at a BB, not MS but one of their immediate competitors. If you are looking at software engineering I really wouldn't consider either of these places--go to a silicon valley software firm or to a technology focused trading firm in new york (where technology is really at the center of the business rather than just a cost center, like it is at all of the investment banks). So many people go into these tech analyst roles at BB firms thinking that they will be able to move to the business side (banking, trading, etc) after a couple of years. There are only a handful of people that ever can make that switch. I dont know if that is part of your motivation for pursuing the positions, but if it is I would suggest reconsidering.
Also, I have a good friend that works at blackrock in tech. They pay (essentially) the same as MS, so I don't think there will be much compensation difference. I'm not sure how much you'll get out of MS's or Blackrock's brand name if you aren't in the front office (my guess is probably not much) but thats a question thats probably better answered by someone else.
