What should I be doing right now?

I am a junior at Drexel University majoring in economics. I want to get a job in consulting after I graduate, but am afraid that it might be difficult because of the following reasons:

- My GPA. I recently transferred from Cornell because I bombed my sophomore year. I went from a 3.7 to a 2.5 and was withdrawn from the college.

- The university I am attending. I am liking it a lot so far, but I realize that top tier schools have an advantage when applying for jobs in banking and consulting.

So how do I make up for these sticking points and what should I be doing? Obviously I will be working for a high GPA and will try to find a summer internship. But can anyone offer suggestions so I can craft my plan of action? e.g. should I go to a good grad school to improve my job prospects?

Are there better forums I could take this question to that cater to college kids who are looking for internships, have questions about jobs, etc?

Get your gpa up. Take leadership positions in clubs. Network. Get a summer internship etc. Other than that I don't see much else you can do if your overall GPA sank 1.2 points in a year...but def aim above a 3.2.

network and intern. more credible colleges have more recruiters but if you meet the right people, go to the right events, and learn the right skills, you'll have a much better change getting a job.

internships often lead to full time employment. so find somewhere you can stay for a while and see if that helps
