Hi,

Can anyone tell me about their experiences with Deloitte Consulting? I'm in the process of applying for their Project Analysts position. I'm just wondering what the day to day routine is, how much travel/overtime work they actually do. Did you enjoy your work there or not?

Also, if you know, what kind of candidate they're looking for.
Here's the job description: Primary activities include financial analysis, budget and forecasting analysis, monitoring project expenditures, maintaining compliance with firm policies, financial reconciliations, conducting variance analysis, and managing the project billing and receivables processes. Project Analysts will have multiple opportunities to be active in the community and their local office through a variety of volunteer activities such as Impact Day and other community service initiatives.

You will initially have the opportunity to attend our Project Controller School which is designed to help you begin to build your network of Project Controller colleagues. This School provides you with opportunities to understand better your new role as well as develop your knowledge and the skills critical to your performance.

Do you go to a business school in the Boston area? Anyway, from what I've experienced Deloitte Consulting's recruiting this year is VERY tight, as they are only hiring a handful of qualified people. I know that myself and many other top students did not get extended offers. In previous years it seems like we all would have gotten in without a hitch, but this year they're seeking people above and beyond due to the economy.

Though I was really disappointed, I'm interviewing with a lot of other great companies. Deloitte's lesser-known M.O. is that they keep university hiring fairly stable to maintain their reputation with college career offices, but then a year later they do not hesitate to do a "head-count reduction" of the very same people they hired less than a year ago. A pretty backhanded way of treating their employees, but it might just be sour grapes from POV. You can read between the lines, however..

I'd say this year in general is EXTREMELY tough for college seniors going through the recruiting process. I will be making a new thread about this.
