As a freshman in college, should I include high school on my resume?

I'm putting together a resume for an internship I'm interested in, but my college's career advising site recommends leaving everything from high school off the resume (even out of the education section).

I'm a freshman and have had no work/volunteer/leadership experience since I graduated high school in June.

Is it acceptable to include high school awards/extracurriculars while a freshman in college? I don't really see any other way to fill out a resume at this point :-/

I'm of the opinion that it is acceptable. Otherwise, you will have a very empty resume. I'm a little over a year out of college and still have my most recent part-time jobs from college listed.

Your college's career advising site might be directing its advice more to college juniors and up. If anything, bring your resume in for a review at your college's career office.
