Reputition chances universitys in england and germany? Help needed please!

A big sorry I this isn't the right forum for my questions. (tried to figure out where to post a while ...)

I am from austria, currently in my last year of school. And I am going to submit my university applications soon. I plan on studying math and physics. (or math and Economics)

Which british universitys are How do universitys, regarded them? Which place well in prestigious//good Phd programms?
Whcih are regarded highly from employers?(employers that are related to "numerical" subjects... IB, Hedge Funds, e.g. any other welcomed)

I would be especially interested in the reputition of the following ones: Imperial College London, Warwick, Bristol, Edinburgh university, Glasgow university, Manchester ,
and St. Andrews!
(plz comment on St. Andrews, is my impression right that it has a fairly high reputition!
Does St.A. place well in Phd programs(maths/physics)!

And what about german, swiss universitys:
Swiss Federal Institut of Technology Zürich (SFITZ/ETHZ).
Univeristy of Heidelberg,
University of Bonn,
Humbold University Berlin.
(plz mention if you know one that is well known//respected in the US)

Any of them respected well placing?

Especially interested in St.Andrews Bristols reputation.

Every help is very appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I don't know anything about the British universities, but a relative of mine has two degrees from the ETH. He got an excellent education in applied math/algorithms.
