So... this investment banking field...

I've heard a lot about investment banking (which explains why I'm here), but I really don't a concrete idea of what it really is. What college majors are most investment bankers?

Investment bankers provide M&A advisory and help companies raise capital in the debt and equity capital markets.

The college majors vary -- from Sociology all the way to Engineering -- as many of the investment bankers are from the nation's top schools, and HR does not put great emphasis on the actual major but rather on a demonstrated interested in finance and a respectable GPA.

I will say, however, that the non-targets I worked with during my SA program tended to major in finance.

Schools that are not heavily recruited (hence "targeted") by investment banks.
