| What to Major In I met alot of kids who major in accountancy and finance. However, my friend at stern, where i am going, informed me that most of the kids at stern major in finance and economics.
can someone explain the pro and cons of both combinations and which one do IB banks desire more? |

| All else being equal, banks don't really care what you major in, as long as you are at or near the top of your class in whatever it is you study, you can do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division accurately and quickly, and you can find some way of convincing the recruiters that you are genuinely interested in a career in finance for reasons other than money. |

| all else being equal, would an ORFE grad have an advantage over an economics grad? I really want to do economics, pure and simple - i want a good mix of social science and math. ORFE is so much math. |

| what is orfe? Operations research and financial economics? If by all else being equal you mean grades being equal too, then that program might be slightly more attractive for risk management, derivatives trading, fixed income research, exotic structuring, and other technical roles. But chances are, you'll get higher grades as an econ major than doing that nasty financial economics and OR stuff, and that will have a bigger influence than the title of your program. |

| fionance at stern is as good as it gets. They're like number two after wharton for finance. That's all you need. And if you were to double major it should be with math...that's about it. |

| Everyone has told me that IB's want engineers more so than econ majors. I'm not exactly sure as to why, but that's what all my friends at college (MIT + Columbia) have told me. |
