| It is a wonderful school. My son is accepted, he is considering options. He is a NMSF from the State of Iowa, so if he makes Merit Finalist and he goes to Iowa State, it will be free. He may have lots of options open to him, he scored high on some standardized tests, but our Iowa State visit was far more impressive as a visit and tour than the other four he has been to, Iowa, Notre Dame, Harvard, and MIT. iowa State actually does a much better job with the tour than others. The engineering tour was especially impressive. He currently has four close relatoves at Iowa State. His cousins have gotten very involved in student activities there. Not sure what he will do. His 36 on the ACT opens more doors for him, but the fact that some of the high ranked schools such as the Ivy League don't give merit money may close them off to him, even if he gets in. We are very comfortable with the fact that he can go to ISU, potentially have everything paid, and gets lots of credits in the engineering college for classes he has already taken. |
