IC Audition in four days!

Hey, everyone...My Ithaca audition is scheduled for Jan. 28, and I'm really starting to panic. (I get very nervous. ^.~)

I was just wondering if anyone can give me any last minute tips or advice on what to expect, what to do/not do, etc., anything you think might be helpful at all.

Also, a few questions - does anyone know what percent of students get excepted into the program? And how heavily does the audition weigh in compared to academics and the general application? (I ask the latter question because I have a 2060 on the new SATs, which is about a 1350 from the old ones, and from what I've seen, that's fairly high for Ithaca...)

But, again, anything you can tell me would be most appreciated!

You will definitely have no trouble being accepted academically, I promise you that. In all honesty, I think the audition is much more important than your academic record. Last year, they auditioned maybe 700 kids and accepted 32 in the MT program, and 15 decided to come. We now have two more because of a couple of internal transfers who auditioned this fall.

I'd say just know your stuff. Really there's only so much you can do, you know? I know last year, the auditors had a nice little chat with me and asked me a few questions. I don't remember what they were, though, haha, so just maybe keep in mind that they might do that. They might not, though, I really don't know.

Just try not to be nervous. Be confident. Go in and show them what you've got.

Just a couple of notes, since there was a difference in how Ithaca handled auditions compared to other schools when our S was there in November. They separated the vocal audition from the monologue portion. I'm not sure if they handle all auditions this way or not. You have your specific time for vocals and certain time for monologues in two different rooms. In fact, you are seen by different faculty for each. So, in that sense it's probably best to have your times down well so that there is a little freedom to chat with you if they wish. I know some students were anxious when they heard about this arrangement, and you don't want to have to worry about things like minutes and seconds going into it. Overall, it was a very nice experience w/ a great welcome from the department head.

BroadwayCorey - What do you look like? What were you wearing? I want to see if I remember you. There are a couple of people who I talked with and/or made eye contact with a couple of times during the warm-ups - maybe you happen to be one of them!

Actor 465 - Assuming that I read your reply correctly and you are an IC MT student - were you there as a volunteer on Saturday?

I didn't want to ask crazy questions beforehand because I think meeting with people in person after one quick interaction online is a little crazy, but if I remember either of you two, I think it would be fun!

I have red hair, I'm about 5'7", I'm a little pudgy, I was wearing black pants, a brown shirt, and a maroon jacket.

Ringing any bells?

PS - I'm not crazy or a stalker, I'm just curious.

Does Ithaca make candidates wait until mid-March to let them know if they are accepted, or do they notify candidates a few weeks post audition?

There's been some discussion on this already on either an Ithaca thread or one of the MT threads. Last year, when my daughter auditioned, she was admitted by mail two weeks after her late Jan. audition date. I recall the date because she was in NYC at her NYU audition (Feb.12) when the letter arrived from Ithaca and she learned of her acceptance over the phone from her dad.

Others are saying that this year, some rejections from Ithaca have come that quickly but that they have held onto others and have not informed them in this same time frame so find those posts but it may take longer to find out this year (at least if accepted), after more auditions are completed.

While mid March sounds like a long time to wait, be aware that some colleges inform EVERYONE on April 1 or in late March. That was the case with several BFA programs that my D applied to last year. While we have read of wonderful acceptance outcomes on CC already and so soon in the season, the norm for MANY colleges is April 1. My older child who was not a BFA candidate, heard from ALL of her schools approx. April 1.

I auditioned for Ithaca and hated it. the people were so rude who auditioned me. I would never go there. they acted like they were the best college on earth which isnt true. im sry but Ithacais a bad choice

i didnt mean to seem like it owuld be a bad chocie for everyone. i just ment for me. Ithaca is not the right place for me. i was jsut chring that the people didnt seem to want me to do well.

I haven't heard anything from Ithaca and I auditioned a little over a month ago! Has anyone heard anything good or bad?
