Any current Ithaca MT students around?

We'll be coming to Ithaca for the November auditions, and my D would like a chance to talk to someone in the program. Is there anyone around who would be willing to meet us, or contact her via phone/email?
Thanks.

We've been getting wonderful notes from and about Itahca students, and we'll be in touch after the B-W audition! I can't wait, but I believe my D is working to keep herself busy so she doesn't think about it too much! Can any of you tell me if you really did hear about acceptance shortly after a fall audition?

sarahlsmom - My son auditioned for Ithaca the first weekend in Dec., 2 years ago, and he heard absolutely nothing from them until about 4/10. We knew people who got acceptances and who got rejects right away, but we also knew a huge amount of people that year who heard nothing for months. There has been much discussion on this tread about this topic. I assume these kids were "deferred", but there was no letter telling us that this was the case. The frustrating thing was, they let the kids know after the common date of 4/1. Most had already, long before they heard from Ithaca, made their decision to go elsewhere.

sarahlsmom-

that year's acceptances were thrown off because we changed our student and faculty interface program (the one we use registering for classes, figuring out financial aid, checking your grades..etc) in the spring and it wasn't finished in time to process applications at their normal rate.

just some insider info on that year's acceptances..but i asked some people and they all heard back within a month and a half or so

hope this helps!!

mt_scorpion,

My daughter auditioned last year and it was the same situation as Ericsmom described above. My daughter did not hear back within the month and a half, it was much longer than that and she didn't finally hear from Ithaca until April 7th last year. We did know kids who received acceptances/rejections much quicker than that but my daughter and some of others from this forum heard nothing for quite some time.

For my daughter, April 7th was just too late to get her first communication back from the school. There should have been a deferral letter in there or some notification as to why they are still deciding after April 1st. It just makes for better communication.

for those who attend Ithaca and major in MT-
I was told Ithaca is really like a conservatory program where you can double major....is this true? I want to attend a liberal arts program where I can get the best of both worlds.

I'm not going to lie, there is no possible way you can double major as a musical theatre major at ithaca college. It is a conservatory style program, and 112 out of the 121 credits we are required to take are within our major (meaning musical theatre centered). As an MT you are only required to take 5 gen ed. requirements in all of college, but this doesn't mean that you are not academically stimulated at all. My senior year I was ranked 12 in my class of 275, in all Honors and Ap courses, and was in the same boat as you are in terms of wanting a strong liberal arts background. After not being able to afford NYU i ended up at Ithaca, but I promise you it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Although I am not being stimulated in, lets say math for an example, I am being challenged in so many other ways, and whats better is that they pertain to my major. Ithaca offers a BA Drama program which you can interview for that allows a strong liberal arts background, possible double major, and performance/directing/technical opporunities, but the BFA MT or Acting is basically a conservatory program. Hope that helps .

Soooooooooo
Double Majoring in Musical theatre is basically impossible.
Terrrrrrrrific
Well what general ed. classes are you taking?
It wouldn't devastate me if I couldn't take math anymore
