| Hello everyone and thank you to Roger for the introduction. My name is Daniel Creasy (from now on known as AdmissionsDaniel) and I am one of the Admissions Counselors at Johns Hopkins University. Some of you may have been reading my Hopkins Insider blog over the last few weeks ( http://hopkins.typepad.com/) or have read my response on the new Johns Hopkins Message Boards ( http://messageboard.chatuniversity.com/jhuboard/.) We've been really excited with how the new Hopkins Interactive ( http://apply.jhu.edu/hi/) and encourage you all to continue to use the services and check back frequently for regular updates.
I come to College Confidential to help you all out as it relates to learning about Johns Hopkins University. Whether it be about academics, student life, the application process -- I am here to answer questions and provide accurate information. I will avoid spin at all times, and help as much as possible to dispell all the myths about JHU. Please note that I will avoid all questions about your chances for admission.
Many of you know "laxfan04" and she will continue to post as well. But now she will focus more on student life, and I will focus on the admissions stuff. I thank "laxfan04" for all her hard work the past few months, and for letting me know that me posting on the boards would be beneficial.
Cheers. |

| Hey Daniel, it's nice to meet you. It's nice to have a rep to turn towards for admission inquiries, as some of the other sections without reps constantly talk in circles about the admissions "game" without really getting anywhere. |

| Hello AdmissionsDaniel,
My name is Nik, and I am currently a junior in high school. Johns Hopkins has been at the top of my list of colleges for years, and I intend to apply early decision when the time comes. I know that you may hear this question quite often, but what exactly do you, as an admissions officer, look for in a prospective applicant? I would also like to know if you personally believe that SAT scores play a large role for gaining admission into Johns Hopkins. Lastly, is it true that at Johns Hopkins there is cutthroat competition among the students who intend to apply to medical school? Thank you.
Best Regards.

| Hey Daniel, nice to meet you too. What do you look specifically for at first glance in an application? |

| Yeah! Wahoo! Welcome to the crazy CC world Daniel (I do I have to call you boss???)
To all those I have helped on CC the past few months -- Daniel is my main source of information and has been my go-to-go as I answer your questions. I vouch for him in every way, and he should be of a great help to you all.
He probably won't post as frequent as I do - he does have to read those apps - but with both of us on CC now you are all the better for it.
(((And oh yeah, you better be nice to him...))) |

| Hello Daniel, welcome to CC.
Johns Hopkins is also one of the top universities on my list, but I have a few questions:
1. How safe is the campus? (I've heard some stories)
2. Can you explain the grading system a bit? (I've heard a system composed of honors, high honors etc.)
3. I'm sure you've been asked this before, but would you say JHU is competitive or cutthroat?
4. Outside of the classroom, what's your favorite part about JHU?
5. How are the meals and dormitories?
Thanks again for all your help. |

(sidenote - maybe I haven't been around the hopkins forum long enough...but I've always assumed laxfan04 was male. It may have been the username. I wasn't aware I was so sexist..lol) |

| welcome AdmissionsDaniel. While I don't have any questions, I think it's great how JHU is reaching out to applicants through means of internet. |
