Laptops for Freshmen and Discounts on Laptops

I will be a Hopkins Freshman in September and I was wondering if I needed to buy a specific kind of laptop for a BME major or have specific programs on my laptop for BME?

I was also wondering if there were any kind of discount or rebate on a laptop if I bought it through Hopkins. I know a few colleges have programs with Apple and Dell, where the students enter their College ID numbers and they get a great discount when purchasing a laptop or other electronics. Does Hopkins have such a program?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

u should check the threads on Class of 2010 Message Board. there're tons of info regarding which laptop is suitable for what classes. but from what i've heard from current students at Hopkins, any laptop would be fine for school work and net unless u're really into gaming and stuff like that. if u dont have the URL for the msg board, PM me

The Class of 2010 Message Boards are absolutely the place to find out about computer discounts and laptop usage. You should have received information in the mail about the Mobile Computing Program through the JHU IT Office. If not, check out this website:
