Peabody Institute

Hi I'm new here. I'm going to be a junior next year, and I'm obviously thinking about college. I'm a singer and have been in my All-state chorus, and I'm going to continue vocal studies in college. I was wondering how good is the Peabody Institute at John Hopkins for voice? I did some research, and Ah Young Hong, one of the professors, seems pretty good, but I haven't been able to find any audio or video of Peabody's choirs or operas. Woud the Institue be a good choice for a singer? If not, what are some great, academic schools that are hard to get into that have good vocal programs? (Or at least a joint program with a conservatory)
These are the ones I know of:
Columbia/Julliard
Harvard/NEC
UPenn/Curtis

However, I don't think the Ivy League is right for me.

Please repost your question in the Music Major forum. There are some folks there who are quite knowledgeable about vocal programs at a variety of schools. I'm sure they will share some ideas with you.

My son attends Peabody. He is, however, an instrumentalist; so I can't comment on the voice department. He played in the orchestra last year when they did Magic Flute and I thought the production was excellent.

Good luck to you.
