How's the food?

My son has applied ED and he (and I) love Kenyon. But I did hear that the food is "terrible" from the mother of another boy who is junior there now (and otherwise loves Kenyon). I know there is an effort to make the food locally grown as much as possible, but maybe the school is too small to offer much variety? Will the new renovated dining hall produce better food? I know this is a minor point in the scheme of thing, but I'm a mom and would appreciate comments.

The food is not terrible...the variety gets a bit old after 4 years, but one would have the same issue in any campus dining hall. I would ask that mother if her son had a personal chef at home

When my D and I visited Kenyon in September Peirce Hall, the dining commons on South Campus, was under construction. Are there any plans to upgrade the variety of meal choices in Peirce once it reopens?

My friend is just a so so cook, believe me, and there's no personal chef and her son is really not picky. She compared the food at Kenyon to a mid sized college where her other son goes.

I last ate Kenyon food back in May when visiting some friends on campus, it was about the same as when I went there. Not amazing by any means, but not bad at all. There are some off days, but you would really have to visit the dining hall for a few days in a row to get the full experience. I would gladly go back and eat 4 more years at Kenyon, especially when Peirce opens back up

I am a current student at Kenyon and I would say that the food is not bad/decent. There's quite a bit of variety but most students on campus would think that the food in Ernst is better than Gund. A little creativity helps sometimes.

Pierce is supposed equipped with better kitchen facilities to create a better dining experience for all Kenyon students. So yep, there are expectations that food will get better when Pierce is up and running next Spring!

food

Hey
I stayed on campus overnight and I ate 2 meals there. I thought that the food was pretty good. I was expecting it to be gross, but it was pretty good for cafeteria food. The athletic center also has sushi and smoothies, so its kinda fun.

Food- at least it's hot!

When we were at Kenyon for the Fall Visit Day, the she crab soup melted the styrofoam bowl.
