Hang in There!

Megaaadi,

If international students were never accepted ED, Lafayette wouldn't offer the option! Many international students are accepted ED. Rest assured that I do know the names of a few that have already been accepted.

Wait until you receive your decision next week before coming to any sort of conclusion. What makes you think you've been deferred? Others have received their decisions at this point only because they sent in their applications earlier.

Just relax, take deep breaths, and patiently wait to hear back from Lafayette.

Megaaadi,

Yes, definitely let Mr. Staats know of your new scores via email. If a decision has yet to be reached on your application, any new information you send will be taken into consideration.

Megaaadi,

The Admissions Office will be closed December 24, 25, 26 and January 1. I'm sure they are trying to send out as many decisions as possible before the holiday break.

Hang in there!

Justin -- My daughter submitted her application to Lafayette (RD) last month and she received a letter from the admissions office acknowledging receipt of all required materials. The letter also noted that even though she had interviewed with an admissions officer on campus, it was common practive to have an alumni interviewer contact applicants once they had applied. No timetable was provided, and off course only 3-4 weeks have passed since she received the letter, but we were wondering how long it might be until she hears from an alum. (There are, incidentally, several Lafayette alums in our small town, including two next door neighbors).

Alumni Interviews...

hudsonvalley51,

Your daughter should be contacted by an alumni admissions representative sometime within the next few weeks. Unfortunately, there really isn't an exact timetable for contacting applicants...AARs receive lists of applicants' names and are expected to set up interviews promptly. I do know that January is THE month for most alumni interviews, so hang in there!

Don't try calling up the Admissions Office with questions about alumni interviews. The program is actually conducted through Alumni Affairs.

FYI, an off-campus interview would not count much toward her application. However, if she wanted the chance to speak with an alum to learn more about the College, it might not be a bad idea.

Justin -- Thanks as always. Just to be clear, my daughter did interview in June with Mr. Bachman on-campus. I think that is why she was a little surprised to hear that an alum would also be contacting her for an off-campus interview.

hudsonvalley51,

I don't think applicants who have had on-campus interviews are usually notified of the opportunity to interview off-campus. You might consider taking a moment tomorrow to call up the Admissions Office at (610) 330-5100 just to make sure they have proof your daughter interviewed with Mr. Bachman.

If the opportunity does come around, however, I encourage your daughter to speak with an alum. Our alumni representatives are great sources of information on anything/everything Lafayette, and I think just hearing about an alum's experiences would be worthwhile.

Hi candyman92486,

My son is interviewing at Lafayette on 12/27. We had visited the campus this past summer and took a tour then. But this will be his dad's first visit there.

Any suggestions for how we should spend our time besides the interview? We are staying at the Gen. Lafayette Inn the night before. We may take the 10 a.m. tour even though two of us have already done a tour. I imagine most of the campus will be shut down.

Thank you SO much for your participation on this site!
