Hey Justin, sorry to be bothering you again near to your finals.. but i've a couple of queries.

About the food at Lafayette, is it 'kosher' or 'halal'. If it's not, what are the other options for Muslim students?

Another one, about the rooming. When you say 'co-ed by room', what do you mean. Surely, a female student would stay with a female student and male with males. Right?

Thanks!

khan91,

There is a decent selection of kosher food items in dining halls, but I'm not so sure about halal items. I don't know who you might contact about Muslim food options -- possibly Dining Services at dining@lafayette.edu.

'Co-ed by room' means pairs of males and females live in adjacent rooms.

Hi Justin,
what is the waitlist situation looking like at the moment? I just put my deposit down at my 2nd choice school but am still completely set on attending Lafayette if I am admitted.
Is there anything more I can do at this point? And when will they be mailing the final decisions of acceptance or rejection?
Thanks in advance
Samantha

Samantha,

There's no way for me to know what's up with the waitlist at any moment. They've already started calling applicants, though, judging by what's been said on these boards. I'd bet on more calls going out after May 1. Final decision letters will be mailed out after all spaces in the incoming class have been filled -- it's hard to tell how long this process will take.

At this point, you'll just have to wait and see!

soooo as a curious future student, i was curious so i went to this website where students can anonymously post opinions about anything. all they did on this site was bash the school, and ive never seen such a case where so many students bash their school. most schools ive heard of, their students have enormous pride about their school. now im getting worried that im going to a school where im going to be unhappy and i know its silly to base my opinions like that but its hard to ignore the fact that there are SO many unhappy posts. so i just was hoping you could calm my nerves on this issue? haha thanks!

dont come here

What you hate about lafayette

YankeesChamps09,

Hahaha...that site is such a joke. It just goes to show what anonymity can do to some people (well...probably the same two or three people who choose to post).

Look up any other school and you'll see how the degree of libelous commentary is much the same. Pretty disgusting stuff, really -- I weep for those who are compelled to contribute.

I wouldn't let this mindless drivel worry you.

Ya it sounds like all those posts were from the same person. Similar writing style, word used, phrasing-- everything.

All of the comments were also regarding the scholl being small, parties, or being like a high school.

Well yes the school is small, that pretty evident. You can have as much or as little fun as you like- that is not an issue.

The posts are really all pointless and without merit.

Back in the day Lafayette's greek scene and party culture could hang with anyone.

The admin didnt like it and set out for destruction, but much of the old culture still remains.

There is plenty of parties and driniking to partake in nearly everyday of the week if that is what you desire. Go see the boys at Fiji (if they dont get kicked off campus) and they will show you a party!

Hey Justin, I've been reading your posts for a while now.. but haven't posted any
questions that I have for myself. As someone who will be attending Lafayette starting
this fall, I have tons of questions. I hope that these questions weren't repeated in
previous pages, as I could not read all of them. One of my question is when will the sign-
up for Residence Halls begin? I looked all over at the college website, but could not find
paperworks of any sort. Maybe I missed it.. I'm not too sure. Am I too late..? If I'm not,
could you tell me around when the registering will begin, and how will I complete it
(through internet, mail, etc). Thanks!

Housing...

lollsw,

You will be asked to complete an online housing preference questionnaire in mid-May. For more information, see: Residence Life.

lollsw,

I found out more information on housing. It turns out the questionnaire will be made available on the Class of 2013 website (Lafayette College - Class of 2013) May 22nd through June 9th. You'll be receiving a unique user ID and password to sign in and complete the survey very soon via snail mail.

Here's a direct link to the survey. It's not "up and running" yet, but May 22nd is just around the corner: https://opinio.lafayette.edu/opinio/s?s=1421.

Hey candyman - thanks for all your answers and support on this site!

I know you have said in previous threads you thought maybe Lafayette would go to the waitlist this year, but nothing has really been posted confirming that. Have you heard any updates? If they do have a full class for 2013, they will send a letter, but meanwhile with housing forms requests, etc... and all that, it makes me feel like it is a done deal and I should move on. Any thoughts?

Qtflt,

They certainly did go to the waitlist this year, but at this point, I doubt they're still at it. Most waitlist candidates offered a spot are notified soon after the May 1 deadline.

You could call Admissions to ask what's up at 610-330-5100. If the class is full, they'll let you know.
