Would STEM programs care about applicants posing Asperger's syndrome as an LD?

Please, I don't mean to stereotype people with this disorder; I'm just wondering. I feel like if someone wrote that on his or her application, particularly one to a technical program, he or she'd get laughed out of having a chance at admission. In fact, it can really be a devastating disorder that makes school life - even academically - difficult.

As a person with aspergers, I don't see why they would. Socially, for example, I am a failure. I am no good around crowds and other people i do not know. HOwever, academically, I can succeed if the right things are put into place.

But everyone is different, even thoughs who have aspergers syndrome.

Asperger's is just a label ... it may be far more effective to describe your history of health challenges in a way that is illustrative of triumph. Admissions love applicants that have conquered adversity and emerged in victory!

For example, "despite a history of physical/physiological limitations, I overcame the odds and have succeeded in the social, emotional and intellectual domains by acting in accordance through ... and demonstrating perseverance to be the best I can be!"
