gap year programs for ADHD kids?

Hello, everyone.

My ADHD daughter has been accepted at an Ivy League University, but she is young for her class and doesn't have the life skills she will need to be successful.

She is thinking about taking a gap year, and we are wondering if there are any gap year programs especially designed for ADHD kids, to help train them in organizational and other skills so that they can be successful when they leave home and their support system.

Any suggestions? I have scoured the internet and found nothing but summer camps.

I don't know about a specific gap year program, but I know that Landmark college is specially for students with ADHD and learning disabilities and students go their for 2 years and then transfer to another school. They also do summer programs. You could have her go to a summer program or enroll in summer classes or something and a school with a lot of support. Maybe she could go to a CC and get used to the college load. I haven't heard of gap programs before.

I haven't heard of any, but it seems like it would be a great idea. Someone mentioned a good summer program on this board. I belive it was at one of the SUNY schools. Congratulations on the admission!

@vrsinc - Did your daughter take the gap year ? How did it work out ? Did you have to mention the gap year in the application process ? My son is an international student - and I feel he needs to take the AP exams outside of the school curriculum. Would colleges look at this negatively ?
