I was wondering if any students (or friends of students) can tell me anything about this school. I am visiting in January, but would welcome any comments. I am going to major in Education or Psychology, not sure yet, but definitely in the Social Science area. Thanks for any feedback. I hear they have good aid the tuition isn't too high.

I might be visiting with my daughter about that time too. I will share anything I find. She will be a transfer for Fall 2007. I only know of one student that went there and liked it and I've read nice reviews on certain college sites. The "feel" can't be made unless we are in person though.

I got accepted yesterday or the day before. Is it rolling admissions? I just have to wait until February to get scholarship info.

I don't actually know a whole lot about the school. My stepfather and one of my teachers went there for engineering. So I figured I would give it a shot.

I remember my sons GC saying it was a solid Catholic school, with it's strength in engineering, but also had some other decent majors. It is shadowed by Fordham, but is much more generous in aid. (I wish my son applied there also and not just Fordham)
I know Rudy Giuliani went there years ago and it probably has changed a bit since then,as with your stepfather, but I know the engineering program is still strong.

Thanks for the info! Keep it coming! We will be visiting just after spring break, to see campus, etc. My son is a junior, so he has a year yet. He is at a LaSallian Catholic high school here in St. Louis. That is how he heard about MC. I'm pretty sure he'll get in with his grades & test scores. What remains to be seen is if he will get enough aid that we will be able to afford to send him there!

Well, we made our visit a few weeks ago. It's a lovely little campus at the very end of the number 1 train line. We enjoyed our visit, and liked the size of the school. My son really liked the school, and I'm sure, is anxious to apply next year. We really like the fact that it is a small school, and that there are no lecture halls on campus. We were told that all classes (even Gen Eds!) are capped at 25 students. The proximity to Manhattan via train is a plus for my son, as we are from a smaller city in the midwest. He does, however, really like the neighborhood the school sits in, although we didn't get much of a chance to explore outside of campus. We were a bit disappointed that admissions was unwilling to talk with us, because our son is only a junior. I suppose that means that we will have to make another trip up there in the fall, so that he can speak with admissions then...

The school has a decent reputation. On paper, it seemed like the perfect match for S. On our visit though, I think he realized it wasn't for him. The dorm that we saw seemed very dreary and dark. We also didn't see many kids in the dorms, but we did see some outside smoking up a storm. It had the feel of a suitcase school to us but others may have a different opinion. Another thing to consider is that our tour guide answered many questions but sort of brushed over the question of "Is it difficult to get into the classes you want?" After the quick, vague, and muffled answer we got, we "read between the lines" that it's somewhat difficult to get into classes until your Junior and Senior years. The school has a good engineering department that we've heard is very demanding. I'm sure it's the right school for some, just not for S.
