okay, for some reason I may not be able to audition for the MT minor because of some credit technicality with transferring BUT do you think it's "worth" going to MMC as a BFA Theatre and taking lots of voice lessons and dance classes outside?

I had my Marymount audition yesterday.
The theatre presentation really appealed to and impressed me and I liked the feel of the school. At first, the woman auditioning us seemed kind of cold, but she turned out to be really nice--just tough. The audition was less class-like than I thought it would be. Yes, we all watched each other, but we didn't do much else together, and there was no group interview at the end. It was more informal than other auditions, but still sort of the same thing (what're ya gonna do). Anyway, it was interesting to see who was auditioning and what they used and all that--I think a lot of in-state students audition, and maybe that's conducive to people who don't really know the fundamentals of a good musical theatre audition? People did Wicked and Millie and seemed kind of uncomfortable--there was definitely a varied amount of levels of training and all that.

I liked it though

if anyone has any other questions about the audition, PM me.

I thought Marymount offered only a minor in MT, unless that has changed.

audition

MMC is indeed a musicial theatre minor, but it the training they receive is just as much as if it were a major. They take dance everyday at a well known studio in New York with teachers that teach at both MMC and NYU. They take private voice lessons (my daughters voice teacher is amazing. She is a tony nominated actress and my daughter's voice has grown tremendously) I will say that her schedule is FULL. She also made their musical this year. If you have any questions, let me know.

My D is auditioning in March also. I am confused by their process when it comes to the musical theatre minor. Thanks for clarifying. Are the voice lessons and dance lessons included in the program? One of the admissions people told me in the fall that because the musical theatre minor was too intense he wasn't sure they were going to continue to offer it. I need to call them.

I don't think that is true. My daughter has helped with the musical theater auditions. But I will say that it is a very intense program. The voice lessons and the dance lessons are included in the program. And I will say she absolutely loves both!! PM me if you have any more questions.
