| I've looked into the school myself for Acting so I've been trying to find any info out that I could about the department as a whole. My impression is that it is easier to get accepted as someone in design, management, etc. than it is for acting and MT. From what I read on a community for the school a former lighting tech major said that the department is mostly comprised of actors and dancers. So unless they get a huge insurgence of applicants you probably have a decent chance of getting accepted. |

| Well thatīs good, thanks! I wonder though if it is not a big program, how the classes are and program is overall. I guess if they donīt have many people in the program, and the acting and MT are always doing shows, then that leaves a lot of practice time for the management crew. So you get more experience, so that could be good too. Hmmm. |

| Well from what I gathered it's not extremely tiny, but compared to the few hundred actors I guess it seems to be. I'm not sure how many they accept a year but I know sometimes the actors double major with the BA in performance and then some other aspect of design or management. I believe that if the actors don't get cast in the mainstage than they can always work on crew and stuff. You could send an email to the admissions department about the size and stuff of that aspect of the department.
The department as a whole is top notch and makes for good connections and work opportunity once you graduate through the professors that teach there; students intern all around the city. I'm guessing that if the management program is structred anything like the BA performance program, then you would be allowed to work on a show outside of the school like the actors can. Again you'll need to ask someone who knows for sure! Perhaps try searching on Myspace or Facebook for a student that goes there and see if they'll chat with you a bit, best to hear it directly from them. Good luck! |

| Both acceptances and rejections have gone out to people that had the earlier auditions. I still haven't received any news yet (I auditioned Feb. 2nd) but the reason is because I didn't have all my admissions materials for the school until a few weeks ago, so my school acceptance didn't arrive until about 2 weeks ago.
I'm assuming I'll find out when the last cycle of auditionees are notified, probably next week or so. The waiting has been KILLING me though! |

| Thanks -- a student of mine auditioned at about the same time you did, and she hasn't heard anything yet. |

| My D auditioned January 26th and got her rejection letter a couple of weeks ago. She was already accepted academically by the time she auditioned. Just a heads up (although I am hoping you get a nice acceptance letter) as we have discussed this issue on the Rejections thread: The Marymount rejection letter is not worded very nicely and is quite hurtful. Everyone that read it has agreed it is one of the worst sent out. Also, my D was told that she was not accepted into the BFA program with a concentration in MT. While we were there, MMC spent a LOT of time telling us that you can not pursue a BFA with a MT minor. On her card, my D indicated she was open to any of the performing arts programs. I called the admissions office and was told that her file is still open and it does not indicate that she was declined. She has decided not to go to school there anyway. |

| My D auditioned in San Francisco on the 19th of January and received her acceptance in mid-march for the BA theater Arts Performance with a minor in MT which is the only way you can do MT there. They won't let you do a BFA in MT or a BFA in Acting with a minor in MT.
We are visiting next week, April 8th and maybe the 9th to see if she likes the program. She LOVES New York City, so we'll see. |

| Just to avoid any confusion, MMC doesn't have a BFA in MT. They only have a BFA in Acting and Dance. Though the MT minor equates to just as much time as a BFA would. |

| My D was accepted to the BFA in Acting program for next year. We are trying to decide if it is worth the price tag. I'd like to hear some feedback from students that are attending now -- is it worth it? How are your classes? Do you make contacts in the real world? |
