edited March 2012 in Massachusetts Colleges
Freshman, in-state student looking to transfer from a small, Catholic, liberal arts school to UMass Amherst.

Stats:
HS GPA: 2.4
ACT: 22
College GPA: 3.8
Dean's List
Excellent essay explaining hs record/test scores and how my view on education has changed.
Work experience
Some volunteering
SADD (as well as an award)
First gen college student

I don't have many ECs due to the amount of hours I was working during the week.
What do you think my chances are as a transfer?

My HS record is not great, I'm well aware, but I tried quite hard this semester and I hope they'll realize that. By the end of the year I will have 30 credits and I'm hoping for a 3.7-3.8 GPA for the year.

UMASS is a great school, and if you show that you're excited to go there, you should get in. What's your intended major? Business is more competitive, but there are other programs that are easier to get in.
