CPW questions!!!!

1. Are most of the events like come and go as you please? Like if something starts at 1 pm and goes to 3 pm, could you get there at like 1:30?

2. Do things go longer than the times listed? Like if Liquid nitrogen ice cream at Random house ends at 1:47, do they mean it? lol

3. How does the host/prefrosh thing work out if the prefrosh is out until like 3 am.... do we get keys or something to get back into our host's room to sleep? If not, are most hosts up and doing things until super late in the spirit of cpw?

4. How quickly can one walk from like Simmons on one end of the campus to like the other end such as East Campus or to Random hall?

2. The times are more like guidelines (except the starting times, hopefully). You can always stay and hang out.

3. You don't have to sleep in your host's room. Lots of people end up crashing in lounges in whatever dorm(s) they end up spending most of their time.

4. Random Hall is two minutes away from 77 mass ave on rollerblades, or about five minutes on (unwheeled) foot. I've never been to Simmons, but you can get to the west campus dorms from Random in about 15 minutes of walking.

I always gave my prefrosh the spare key to my room, but maybe not everybody has a spare key they're able or willing to give out.

In any event, you should be able to get back into your host's dorm, no matter how late, so you can figure things out from there.

I left my door unlocked so my prefrosh could come and go. I'm a deep sleeper, so it didn't really matter when she got back. All of my prefrosh were pretty quiet and respectful, though, so they didn't wake me up and we didn't have any problems. You should just talk to your host.

thanks everyone for the replies!

also, I noticed that many events take place in courtyards/specific rooms/lobbies in dorm buildings.....do most dorms also give prefrosh tours of the dorms at these events?

also, when we arrive at 9 am to check in, are we supposed to bring our suitcase and stuff then? When do we usually meet up with out hosts to drop our stuff off in the rooms? Because there are some events in the morning on Thursday that I'd like to attend minus the luggage

^That's something you should figure out with your host (and it's likely you'll here from them tomorrow). Though, chances are that if you arrive at 9 AM, your host may not be awake

As far as I know, you'll meet up with your host depending on when they don't have class and such. If your host is busy for most of the day or something, it's possible that you'll meet up with one of their friends.

Also, I could be remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure last year there was a room that prefrosh could drop off their luggage in and then pick it up when they were meeting with their host, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
