Hi, if I take online courses, specifically from Art of Problem Solving among other websites, do I need to have a certificate of completion to put the course on my application or to prove it? And does does this hold for MIT only, or colleges in general?

Are you homeschooled? Or is this an after school class? I think if you put it on your application, MIT trusts that you actually took the course, though AoPS does give you a transcript of sorts if you ask. It probably holds true for other schools, as well.

MIT does not require you to provide proof of your supplementary learning.
