Would this be frowned upon by MIT?

My senior schedule this year has essentially 3 REAL classes, and then it has a whole bunch of fluff AP classes that I've already taken the AP tests as self studies. I recently inquired about the option to take quantum physics I/II at the state college and have been given permission by both my high school and the college. The problem comes in here: the class meets M/W/F at 12 - 1 (pm) so I would have to cut out the fluff classes from my schedule and take "release" periods instead (drive is about 30 minutes each way).

So my question is this: Will MIT care if I take release periods in order to make it to the quantum classes? (also I don't know if the adcoms will know enough background to know whether or not the release periods replaced "fluff" classes - could this also hurt me?)

Current Schedule:
* Honors Calc 3/Differential Equations
* Honors Organic Chemistry I/II (with lab)
* Honors Economics/AP Government
* AP Statistics
* lunch
* Honors Programming 5-6
* AP Environmental Science

Changed Schedule (if I were to go through with it):
* Honors Organic Chemistry I/II (with lab)
* Honors Calc 3/Differential Equations
* Honors Economics/AP Government
* lunch (driving time)
* Release (quantum physics 1/2)
* Release (driving time)
* Honors Programming 5-6

I'm in a dilemma because choosing this option will be detrimental to my class rank (release periods essentially drop you 5-10 places at the least) and will probably look bad to adcoms, but I REALLY don't want to spend a year without learning more physics.

Thank you so much for your time in answering me!!!

To answer your subject question, no.

Do the 2nd option.

Thank you for the reply. However, I still feel uneasy about it. Could you possibly elaborate as to why you say no?

Better Explanation (hopefully)

Apparently I didn't do a good job of explaining myself, so I am going to try again.

I'm entering my senior year and am trying to make a choice as to whether or not to take quantum physics 1/2 at the state college.

In order to take the class I would need to take two release periods. This will lower my class rank. I am wondering if MIT will overlook my lowered class rank and the decrease in # of classes.

Pursuit of academic excellence for its own sake > petty class rankings

The decision isn't difficult because I want to keep my class ranking high; the decision (in my mind) is difficult because I don't know how MIT would feel about me doing this.

That's what I'm saying. MIT probably shares you values. >.>
