Language

hi, im a junior and i have a problem with scheduling....

i took latin 1 last year, and i wanted to take latin 2 this year.

however, because of the conflict with ap chem,

i can't take latin 2.

so my college counselor told me

to take spanish 1 and keep up with spanish 2 next year,

because colleges like the improvements.

the problem is that I DO NOT LIKE SPANISH. (no offense. just my own prob)

i've been to the class twice and i really don't like it.

(well, i had a prob with a spanish girl last year and

heard a lot of spanish, so i think that's one of the reasons.)

what should i do?

please give me good advice......

thank you

Listen to my opinion

What you should do depends on whether you already paid for the class or not (unless your grants cover the costs). But really, two classes is not enough to determine that you absolutely feel complete disdain towards spanish.

Try to consider the reasons why you don't like spanish and tell yourself whether they are good enough to forget about the language completely.
First, you mentioned this girl that gave you problems and that she is one reason you do not like spanish. Second, maybe your professor is boring or just not good enough. And third (there might be other reasons), you don't have a direct reason or motivation to take the class. Also, think of any good reason to take spanish, and other bad reasons and weigh them.

As for me, I like to learn as much languages as possible (not really, just three) in order to communicate with cool people that might not really know english.

But...I'm sure you know what you want.

My advice is to not do things you don't like. If I were you I would take Latin 2 next year, not take Spanish 1, and fill the empty space in your schedule with some other class you're actually interested in, maybe some fun math or science class. I don't think MIT will be impressed by or particularly interested in any "improvements" you show by taking Spanish 1 and then Spanish 2. You're already taking Latin. Best of luck.
