good ACT score balances bad SAT score?

Hey guys...

I got a 34 on my ACT (33w, 34m, 34r, 35s) but only a 2170 on the SAT (790m, 700w, 680cr). Do you guys think that my decent ACT score could somehow "cancel" or balance out the bad SAT score? I have to send both anyway because of SAT 2s... so I'm kind of stuck.

The admissions officers at MIT look at whichever set of scores portrays you in the best light. And remember, scores are not what make your application; it's only one part.

good job; don't worry about that, they will look at the higher score (percentile).

Yeah, how is 2170 "bad"? And your ACT is more than decent. Don't worry about it.

I am in in the exact situation, 34 on ACT, 2140 SAT w/ mediocre sat2's 700,690,690 (for the elite schools). My question is, will my ACt not only cancel out the SAT I but also the SAT IIs??

Nah, I don't think the readers are that straight edged. If you want them to know about the SAT IIs, just include it. If not, don't.
