Failed a class

Kind of embarrassing but I failed Algebra II my freshman year, but thats the only thing on my transcript thats bad. I've done well in all my other classes, and I'm doing well in IB right now. Do you guys think that Algebra II grade will keep me out of MIT?

Well i think there's a space on the application where you can explain something like that to them, so that might help you.

How? Why? You'd better have a hell of a good reason.

Family problems, my freshman year was not exactly one of my best years.

They'll probably understand if you make good use of that "do you have anything else to say?" space. And if you're doing well in IB Math now, there's not much to argue about in that regard.

And the rest of your application had better be good too of course.
