Freshman/Baker/Simmons/SINGLE

Is there any way to get a single at Baker or Simmons as a freshman?

I believe most dorms have singles available to freshmen, but I wouldn't count on it (except in MacGregor, where it's almost guaranteed - possibly followed by EC). I know Simmons had some available this past year, I don't know about Baker specifically.

But most dorms you can get singles as upperclassmen anyway. Choose the dorm whose personality you like - you'll get a single at some point =D

It is extremely unlikely for a freshman to get a single in Baker, except possibly in some sort of shuffle after first semester.

The only dorm where you can count on a single is MacGregor*. Other dorms, even if they only have a few doubles, have a tendency to put freshmen in those doubles.

*MacGregor has something like three doubles, the rest are singles.

Freshman at Baker? Hahahahaha you're not going to get a single. You may not even get a double. Not sure about Simmons.

You'll probably get some choice in who your roommate is anyway (my frosh roommate and I, on 5E in EC, had both come in thinking we definitely wanted singles, but discovered that we liked being roommates in our temp room, and stapled our hall rush papers).

Simmons allocates alll rooms on a priority basis, and freshmen are last to pick so the singles are all alllocated by the time they get to choose. My D. ended up in a single second semester after her roommate moved out during IAP and was not replaced, but that is very unusual.

This past year, some Freshmen who had Baker #1 on their list never got a spot in there, even if they were willing to accept a Triple or a Quad, even after REX, even for second semester.
