I've been interested in computer programming and music since I was a kid, and I have a lot of information about my computer projects (mostly computer games), such as videos, pictures, code, design philosophies on my website. I also have samples of my music (I play the Tabla (Indian percussion instrument) ).
Is this a good topic to bring up in the interview? Should I take a laptop or something along so I can show it to him/her? Is it ok to actually run the game and show it?
My software projects and music are a great aspect of my life (it's stuff I like to do, I do it because I like doing it, no one 'pays' me) and I wouldn't want to leave them out of the interview.

"a match for MIT"
By this, I hope you don't mean a high GPA and high SAT scores. If you do, then I'm wasting my time with an interview.

| While you should try to meet certain 'standards', I'd say try to be yourself. If you be yourself, but you don't get admitted for what you are, maybe that particular institution isn't your 'type' anyway. This is in an idealized world though. In the real world, often it's because there are too many people and very little place. |

nikki93,
I guess it must be a good idea to show your EC about your designs cuz that's what you really interested in. I would bring more if I were you. Good luck with your interview!

| Well actually my interview will be long afterwards, next year or so. Still in 11th grade now. |

My interviewer is also 600km away from me and got obsessed about it and in no time I become kinda expert about subject.
First of all ask for another one closer to you, but don't get excited.Probably there isn't any
Than you have few options
-phone interview(many people-including interviewers say its terrible)
-going there and taking the interview
-waiving the interview
if you choose to waive mit won't hold it against you(because of your context)
and a wise man told me interviewers can get you out of mit but they can't get you in if you don't have other requirements
To better understanding of interview read the all of the interviewer thread. If you are lazy as me just read 2014 Interviews #41 by Mikalye
and do your self a favor and keep reading that thread it has everything you need to know(and more)
I'm personally planning to going the distance if I cannot be able,I will waive it
I heard horrible things about phone interview

Are you able to switch ECs? And if so, how? Because I have been trying to keep in touch with mine (pretty much ever since the app went online), but he keeps putting off the interview, and he said he is currently in another country and will set up a date when he gets back (it's been a while since that email was sent too). We have not even set up an interview date (deadline to set up one is October 1st), and I am very worried.

| You misread. The deadline of Oct 1 is the deadline for contacting your EC to set up the interview. If your interviewer keeps putting off the interview, then I presume that you have already contacted them. In that case do not fret. The interview does not need to be completed by 1 October, nor necessarily do you need to have specifically scheduled a date provided that you are in contact with your EC before then.
Relax.

In case anyone was wondering about processing interviews, I had mine the last week of August, and yesterday when I checked, it still said not processed. Since it had been two weeks since my interview, I filled out a "Conducted Interview" form. Today when it checked, it said "Interview Conducted/Processed."
I'm assuming it means they do have my interview report, so imo, that's pretty quick - I was expecting to wait at least a week before I saw that changed.
I'm not sure if that's helpful, but in case anyone else finds themselves in the same boat...

| Indeed, and of course it is. This serves me right for quoting the original question without thinking about that part of it.
For early action candidates the relevant deadlines are:
October 20 - Last day to contact your interviewer and set up an interview
November 1 - Postmark deadline for Early Action application
November is also the last month to take standardized tests for Early Action applications.
Sorry for any confusion.

T-bird,
I think that was mostly luck. It takes me about three hours to write up an interview report, about three times as long as it does to conduct the interview. As a result, I write up the report when I get the chance, which can be quite some while after the interview (its usually within a month or so).
The conducted interview form tells MIT that the interview was conducted and that the fact that they have not received it is the EC's fault not the candidates. That they got the report simultaneously with your submitting the form is likely to have been coincidence.
