Advice from MIT Acceptants

(I posted a thread just like this one previously, now I want advice from people accepted into MIT) I am an African American male, currently a sophomore in high school. My freshman year my GPA was a 4.625/4.0 and I had a class rank of 1/316. I am currently in Beta club, Science Olympiad, Student Council and First Priority. I am also a tech intern at a library and play basketball for my school(freshman year jv). What are some suggestions to increase my chances of getting into MIT.

You have a pretty solid chance of getting into MIT if you keep up the good work. Maybe you can fit in another activity in there, something to do with technology or science. It'll be a major attraction to a school such as MIT.

I think you're fine. You're definitely proving yourself academically and your activities don't seem to be forming a laundry list. Pursue your passions, you'll get where you need to be

Keep in mind that you can do everything right and still not be accepted. But you are on the right track. Just keep up the good work, and then don't shoot yourself in the foot with your essays and interview and choice of teachers to write recs, when it actually comes time to apply. Take a challenging schedule (by your school's standards), and take advantage of the opportunities, including science and/or math opportunities, that your school offers you. Try to do well on your SAT and SAT II Subject Tests.
