Yes and no,
If its a visual arts portfolio, then the answer is yes.
If its a CD of your music (performed or composed), then the answer is yes.
In either of these cases, the portfolio will be sent out to the relevant department for analysis and for a report. (Course 4 for visual arts, course 21M for Music). See the relevant section on the MIT admissions webpage for porfolio submission (

If it is something else, then the answer is maybe. If you have say a detailed labanotation (the written form of dance choreography) of a Swan Lake you choreographed, then the chances are likely that MIT will be able to have it reviewed, but you will need to contact the admissions office to arrange that. If you have a performance art piece that involves setting yourself on fire in the New York Subway while playing the ukulele and yodeling, then it seems highly unlikely that the admissions office will be able to review that in any meaningful way, but contact them by all means.
