SAT scores for mit

I know there is no score can get me into to MIT but I'm pretty sure there is scores which can make sure I won't get in.

They gave enought info on Reasoning scores but there serious lack of info about subject tests;
what is a good/OK score for a international student applying for mit? anything starts with 7 ok?.
again I'm not in need of something which can get me in, I'm looking for the number which doesn't keeps me out, which is enought to make my app depends on essays

Just do your best. People usually do better on SAT subject tests than reasoning anyways.

Personally, I think international students have it the worst. Considering the safe zone for standard domestic applicants is anything above 700+. An international student is gonna have to be around 730+, at the least.

You are competing against tons of brilliant mathematics, science, etc. Olympians and other stellar students in a pool that already has very low acceptance rates. It will be tough stuff, and you are going to need everything

Djokovic is actually wrong - SAT scores, even for internationals, are just used to make sure you can do the work. Statistically, and in the minds of the admissions committee, there is virtually no difference between a 700 or a 730, or even really a 700 and an 800. All scores in this range put you firmly in the category of 'people who will most likely be able to handle the workload at MIT'. And that's all the scores are used for, anyway.

So really and truly, as long as your score begins with a 7, you're totally fine, regardless of what the other two numbers are.

If the 3rd number is non-0, though, the Admissions Department might start to get suspicious.

In all seriousness, though, anything >=700 is fine.

In my opinion anything above 600 is good for CR & writing; I scored 680 on CR and 610 on writing and got in early...

Jashper - You're a point case, and it seems admissions found you really awesome in other ways and just enough in the SAT ways. In general, though, they've stated again and again that they want to see 700s. This is not an absolute rule, of course, but it is the point when people should feel comfortable that their scores won't keep them out of MIT.

Ya, SAT isn't the game breaker/maker. It's just another small factor looked at. Granted if you get like less than 700 on all your parts of the SAT, you might wana try and retake to get above, but if you are excellent at something else, that'll carry more weight than your SAT score.

Im so worried- my score only went up 30 pts from May to October with studying... (1880-1910). My SAT IIs are not stellar either. Could that hurt me in admissions?

you probably want to aim for a score greater than 700 in each section.
Taking the SAT multiple times won't hurt, but lower scores might.
However, SAT isn't the be all end all. With your score, you still have
a chance to get in.

700+ scores get you consideration. 800 guarantees nothing. If you took the SAT once, I'd take it again.
