Which department and why essay

Hi,

I already submitted my MIT application, but I was wondering if anyone could alleviate some of my concerns. My “which department and why” essay discussed why I was interested in being an engineer rather than my interest in a specific program offered by MIT. Is this a valid approach, or should I have rattled off some details about MIT programs?

Thanks

Don't worry about it. MIT doesn't expect students to have decided on a major before they set foot on a college campus. It sounds as if you've described your general interest area, which is fine.

I think you've went with the "undecided" side, which is perfectly normal.
