| Interviews not updated on MyMIT?
I talked to my teacher and she claims that she's sent the letter to MIT land, but the website hasn't updated it and it's been more than a week now. My other interview has been updated. What do i do?

Yeah I figured it would be slow. But I can't help but have an iota of panic that I didn't title the envelope correctly or something. Ahh. But this is reassuring.

my understanding from reading this site is that mail (understandably) takes physical time to open and file into the online system. So while the online application is instantly "processed," it takes time for other stuff to register. Apparently Matt will do his annual "We've opened all the mail!" post on the admissions blog, and if your stuff still isn't updated, you should contact the office. I.E. RELAX! You just got your app done
Good luck!

after 2 weeks if you don't see it updated then u just do that self-report interview form. I had same problem after 2 weeks and then it was updated rather quickly.
DON'T WORRY

We received 23 (TWENTY-THREE!!!) buckets of mail today, folks. Right now, if your letters of recommendation were received today, then it will take approximately two weeks for them to be processed and reflected on your MyMIT account. We will likely take the tracking system offline shortly, so as to allow us to process all of these application components. I'd check back in the Monday before Thanksgiving. Note that we wait until the last minute to review partial cases, so we won't even get to the applications with missing evaluations until the end of November.

Oh my, if you don't mind me asking, was it this bad in 2008? I heard this application season was supposed to be lighter than last years.

| I wouldn't expect that at all.

Based on the number of interviews I have been conducting this year, I have seen a very significant rise in application volume. Other ECs in our area noticed a similar increase.

cellardweller, can you quantify "significant rise" in terms of rough percentage increase over last year?

McG,
If you take the tracking system offline, how will someone know or be able to do the self-report interview form if it hasn't been two weeks yet. Should they do it before two weeks?

| I'd agree with this, my interview load has also gone up, but that is not yet significant. As an international EC, we only have expatriate Americans applying ED, and the fact that we have had more of them than most years doesn't yet mean anything significant. If we maintain the increase into our regular admissions cycle which is just beginning, then that might mean a lot.

Paperchaserpop:
I have personally interviewed more than twice as many candidates as last year, both EA and RD. This could partly be due to the Admissions' office allocating more students to me than to other ECs in the area, but I believe they try allocate students somewhat evenly. The quality of applicants is also uniformly high, with very few that I didn't rate as strong fits for MIT.
