MIT Math Dept - Energy, Enthusiasm...

Although MIT is reputed for its excellence in math-science-engineering programs, I wondered if any of the MITers could suggest what represents the enthusiasm for mathematics, for example?
I wondered whether it is just the-name-value thing or if there's anything specific that shows and represents the energy of MIT Math dept. Would that be a project? or math building? math courses?

Thank you!

Ok, first of all, don't post the same thing in two different MIT forums. And second, I have no clue as to what you are asking about.

Sorry, after I posted on 2013, I suspected whether that thread is read less often. Sorry about that again for that, and for confusing questions.

My question is an aspect of MIT Math department which illustrates how much MIT Math students love Math..

I hope you understand what I mean to ask. I apology again.

the fact that no one is answering this thread shows their enthusiasm for Math: they wont answer anything which cannot be measured quantitatively.

I know a girl who applied from Shanghai and got into MIT (international). She was really enthusiastic about math, and won lots of national/international awards too (like most international applicants). She wrote her essay on how she taught math in poor communities of China, and loved to do math. In her SAT prep class, the tutor asked her what her dream was, she replied "My dream is to go to MIT, and just sit in a corner and do math all day."

She's also an amazing person. So there, an answer

^ Yeah, I'm not sure if they would've accepted her if she delivered that one-liner in her essays.

By the way, I meant to ask which specific aspects of MIT would be representative of such students...

I am appreciative of all the input, and feel more assured about the atmosphere of MIT.
But does MIT itself show anything like that? Thanks

I am referring to the Math Department link @CalAlum reply.

You can also google : Math Jam hosted by Matt McGann MIT with professor of mathematics Kiran Kedlaya.

I am not student in MIT but I know that they have many leading mathematicians in USA. Their students have so many apportunites!
One of those is they have great Math seminars. You yourself can give a talk in one of those seminars if you have what it takes. Most of their speakers are graduate students and math professors, so it is not easy to be speaker.
