33 hours until rejection

I am being optimistic here. On the bright side, I would not lose my life if I am rejected. =D

So here we are. Just post if the probability you think you will be rejected or accepted or waitlisted (and then accepted or rejected). Again, there cannot be 0% due to obvious reasons.

95% chance rejected.
4% chance waitlisted rejected.
1% chance waitlisted accepted.
0.01% chance accepted.

My mathematics is perfectly well here.

P(rejected) = 0.97
P(accepted) = 0.025
P(waitlisted) = 0.005
P(accepted | waitlisted) =0.05
P(rejected | waitlisted) = 0.95

I'm really anxious about tomorrow, yet at the same time I'm completely hopeless about getting in.

98,9% chance rejected.
1% chance waitlisted rejected.
0.1% chance waitlisted accepted.
0.0009% chance accepted.

don't be hopeless yet. i am not. and really don't stand a realistic chance

exactly the attitude.

I told myself I still got my safety school so I won't end with no college to attend

Wait ... what's the actual % chance for RD applicants? I'd like to know before giving myself probabilities.

According to the stats on MIT's website, for a domestic applicant with good test scores [750+ M/CR] it's something like 15-20%. Or rather, 15-20% of applicants with those scores are admitted.

So stop putting down 0.01%, guys! I'm estimating my own chances of acceptance at 15% based on statistics and old-fashioned gumption.

EDIT: Actually, revise that to 12.5%, since the RD Decisions are apparently going to be unprecedentedly brutal.

Hey!if you guys with blablabla International Olympiad awards get rejected, I think I'd better commit suicide because I have not a single international award. *sigh*

@DMOC: I think for an AVERAGE qualified applicant the chance maybe 10% or even lower.

i too don't have any special awards except some inner school stuff and a few diplomas. never went to an olympiad or even a state contest. so my estimation are pretty much true.

way too pessimistic, simple statistics suggest that most of you CCers, who some of broke 750 on CR on the SAT, 20% of those will be accepted according to the site..It's hard to imagine that the rate is any lower if you broke 750 on math also, so if anything, its a 1/3 chance for most of us..stop being so negative

Unless you're an international, where getting 750+ may bump you up to a 5% chance. Woo. Hoo.

^yeah INTs are gonna have it tough this year, I think the number probably went up for them as well which will bode for a 1-2.5% acceptance rate..good luck to you guys. and less than 24 hours now, damn I'm probably gonna leave CC from now until decision time tomorrow to get my mind off it.. Best of luck guys and I hope some of us end up as classmates next year!
